Welcome to Eilean Sionnach Lighthouse Cottage. Our Gaelic name means the Island of the Fox and our unique self-catering cottage is situated right next to Ornsay Lighthouse, on a private island just off the rugged Isle of Skye.

Eilean Sionnach is a place to find your soul. An extraordinary place to truly get away from it all. A place where you can simply just ‘be’. So why not come and hide away…?

The Island

On this unique, private island nothing interrupts.  Slow down and simply just ‘be’.  There’s no rush here – the natural rhythm and nature of the sea dictates the day.

Eilean Sionnach Lighthouse Cottage is a unique self-catering accommodation on Skye. A private island getaway offering a sense of peace that some say is hard to find in a modern world.

So we invite you to come, share this special place and discover what you’ve been missing.

Sit Back & Relax

Every room in the lighthouse cottage is stylishly decorated and every bedroom has a deluxe ensuite. A characterful living room and dining room are where you can relax and eat when you’re ready to come in from the great outdoors. The spacious lounge offers plenty of room for up to eight people to relax and unwind. Whether you read a book by the wood burning stove, search for wildlife through one of many windows looking across the Sound of Sleat or play a board game with the children, we hope you’ll enjoy the peace and tranquillity of your own private hideaway on Skye.

Explore Skye, Lochalsh & Lochaber

As you begin your holiday to Skye, feel as though you’re travelling back in time. Feel that time itself has started to slow down. Discover the wonder of this ancient land and all there is to explore. Arrive at a place like nowhere else and forget the outside world for just a little while. Eilean Sionnach Lighthouse Cottage is situated in Isleornsay which is in the south (aka The Garden) of Skye.  From here you can explore Skye’s top attractions and you’re also within easy reach of well-known tourist destinations on the mainland such as Plockton, Glen Sheil and Morar (accessible by the Armadale to Mallaig ferry).

A million fireworks will colour the night sky tonight bringing joy and smiles to many. Meanwhile, Ornsay, along with all lighthouses around the world, light the night sky every single night of the year. Their primary purpose is not joy, but rather supporting the safe passage of mariners everywhere. They bring joy to only a very select few, who have the privilege of standing ashore beneath their majestic form and admiring their slow, blinking conversation.

It's one of the most magical moments you will experience when you come to stay on Eilean Sionnach and no doubt, a memory that will stay with you forever.
